First they pumped ten tons of liquid concrete into the leaf-cutter ant colony.
After letting the concrete dry for a month, they begin the excavation. What they uncover is amazing!
The structure covers 538 square feet and travels 26 feet down into the earth. In it’s construction, the ant colony moved more than 40 tons of soil.

Famous Quotes about Ants:
“The more ants are studied the more they reveal capabilities that exceed their small size.”
-Whit Gibbons

“Look to the ant, O sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise. . . . She prepares her food in summer, and gathers her sustenance in harvest”
Proverbs 6:6
-King Solomon

“It's not enough to be busy, so are the ants. The question is, what are we busy about?”
-Thoreau

The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks he’s a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed. The grasshopper has no food or shelter so he dies out in the cold.
-Aesop’s Fables
